Strategic systems

Virgin Australia (formerly Virgin Blue) has chosen Dialog to assist it with some major strategic system developments. A few examples follow:


Dialog analysed, designed and developed Airpass, a high-profile application which allows international guests to book a Virgin Airpass on the internet. This fixed-price project was delivered on time and to budget by successfully implementing Dialog’s SCRUM-based Agile methodology. Airpass uses Java/J2EE and 'Stripes' as a JSP framework. The Airpass Java back-end interfaced with existing Virgin SOAP services to provide flight searching and booking functionality.

Dialog used its considerable experience in most aspects of flight scheduling and online booking systems used in the travel industry in this project.

Virgin Blue Airpass

Lounge Management

Dialog also developed the Lounge Management System which allows customers to nominate, purchase and manage Annual Memberships and Single Entry Passes to Virgin's airport lounge area.

Blue Room Guests

Dialog developed & supported the Blue Room Guest Management Administration System which provides financial reports and manages corporate pricing on Virgin’s airport lounge, known as the Blue Room. The system is also used by Virgin staff to approve guest’s visits to the lounge and validate membership. It is additionally a Point-of-Sale (POS) system for selling merchandise and membership.

Catering Point Of Sale

Another key system developed by Dialog is CateringPos which handles airline flight schedule reports and ticket booking summaries. Dialog also performed the data conversion on existing XML and CSV reports which were extracted from an Oracle database.
