Improving access to critical health information

Queensland Health wanted to improve its ability to share information with General Practitioners (GPs) and to support enhanced health outcomes for persons treated in the healthcare system.

It selected Dialog IT to create a secure online portal to provide to General Practitioners with patient healthcare information from Queensland public hospitals.

Solution

There was a wealth of information available through an existing application called The Viewer, which is a mature and well accepted system used by Queensland Health clinicians and staff.

Dialog built upon this platform using the Microsoft .Net framework, SQL Server and other secure internet technologies.

The data available includes:

• Pathology
• Radiology reports
• Discharge summary information

The new Health Provider Portal went live in June 2017.

• Reduces duplication of diagnostic testing.
• Ensures more consistent, timely and coordinated care.
• Reduction of operational costs associated with providing Queensland Health patient information to GPs.

The solution was nominated for a Queensland Government People’s Choice Award.
